Autumn’s arrived, however FormulaT is based in New Zealand so it’s a welcome Spring after recording 29 days of rain in August. This newsletter has an Australian flavor as we commemorate another past Formula One legend, build the anticipation towards Bathurst as well as release more BMW CSL tuner designs.
Formula One driving legends
Jack Brabham was a driver who migrated to a racing team, paving the way for others to follow and notably his Cooper Racing team understudy Bruce McLaren. A three time F1 champion, this new design is well overdue and features the Australian ‘green and gold’ colour scheme of his own racing team.
A current driver that needs no introduction is Max Verstappen, who has probably the largest fan base of any driver since Senna. While FormulaT designs are focused on the past era, a special Max Cap has been created using a more modern flat Cap design.
BMW CSL Batmobiles
The BMW CSL’s caused a sensation when they were released, largely due to their rear wing which allowed them to obtain more grip at high speeds, something very useful at circuits like the Nurburgring. Now released are a BMW Works design, and Team Schnitzer version and a Jagermeister Racing design to add to the existing Alpina design. Various colour options are available for each.
Building for Bathurst
Seven new designs have been added to the Bathurst range, grouped under the ‘Muscle cars’ category on the website. Profiling three Ford designs here – the first being the ‘wild violet’ XY Falcon which nearly became one of the most famous Bathurst cars ever – finishing second two years in a row. The Project B52 car that was set to dominate at ’76 Bathurst but was destroyed in a fire along with its transporter. Alan Jones is the only other Australian to win a F1 championship and we show here a design based on the EB Falcon he drove at Bathurst in 1995.
