The Monza circuit near Milan in Italy is the oldest race circuit in Europe, being first constructed in 1922 and was 10 kilometres long.

While its design today appears to be very similar to what was originally created, there have been nine variations to its layout. It originally featured a high speed ring and in 1954 the corners were raised on the outer edges to become banked, allowing for high speed cornering for the brave. These corners still exist today but have not been in use since 1969.

Monza is a high speed circuit and that has come with a heavy price, as 52 drivers and 35 spectators have been killed at this circuit.

As you might expect, Ferrari are the most successful constructor here with 20 Italian Grand Prix wins, and Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton tied on the most driver wins with five.
