Amon, Mauger, Ganley, Hulme and McLaren were New Zealand born racing heroes of the 1960s and 1970s.

McLaren won their first grand prix at Belgium in 1968 with Bruce McLaren at the wheel. McLaren were successful across Formula One, the Indy 500 and were dominant in Can Am where they won the most races in this series and won the championship five years in a row.

While known for their tangerine livery, the first McLaren that raced in Formula One was painted white and green, as part of a deal for the film ‘Grand Prix’.
