The Alfa Romeo factory racing team Alfa Corse, developed the 155 for the new  DTM series in 1992. They created an icon of touring car racing, which dominated the series and set a record of 38 wins in the combined DTM/ITC.

The t shirt design is inspired by Nicola Larini's V6 TI version which won 11 of the 22 races in 1993.

Between 1992 and 1994, the 155 managed to take the Italian Superturismo Championship, the German DTM championship (both with Nicola Larini at the wheel), the Spanish Touring Car Championship (with Adrián Campos), and the British Touring Car Championship (with Gabriele Tarquini).

Part of it's success was its engine power, a high revving 2.5 L 60° version of the busso V6 engine was coupled to a four wheel drive system, producing 426 PS (313 kW; 420 hp) at 11500 rpm.
