Sponsorship liveries increasingly replaced racing cars painted in their country of origin from the 1960s. Since that time we have seen many striking examples such as Alitalia, Benetton, Gulf Oil, JPS, Jagermeister, Malboro and Silk Cut.

While Martini's racing stripes have recently been the main branding of the Williams Formula One team, the inspiration here is from a time when Lancia dominated the world rallying championship, and in fact they are still the most successful FIA World Rally manufacturer despite not entering a race since 1993.

In 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992 Lancia won the Group A FIA World Rally championships with the Delta HF and the Integrale. Before that, they won in the Group B with the powerful Lancia 037 and also won three years in a row in the mid 1970's with the Stratos.

Many Lancia fans and Delta Integrale owners will be hoping that the brand resurrects itself from only creating 'city cars' that it currently produces under Fiat-Chrysler ownership.
