Darrell is one of the most successful Nascar drivers ever, with a career that spanned four decades. He won the championship three times and was runner up for another three, where he dominated the early 1980's.

He achieved 59 pole positions, the second highest in Nascar history. The Bristol Motor Speedway holds a special place for him, winning twelve times and seven of those were consecutive.

From racing he transitioned to a long broadcasting career, retiring in April 2019. His first broadcast was a bittersweet event for him, as at this 2001 Daytona 500 he saw his brother Michael take the win but unfortunately this was the event when his close friend and Nascar legend Dale Earnhardt would lose his life on the last lap.

Fittingly, Darrell announced his broadcasting retirement at the Bristol circuit where he he was so dominant.

This shirt design takes inspiration from Darrell's big break in Nascar when he starting driving for the DiGard Motorsports team
