Design is inspired by the first turbo engine in Formula 1, the Renault RS01. This created a massive change for Formula 1 and motorsport and within a few years normally aspirated engines were out of favour. While the RS01 was nicknamed the 'yellow tea pot' as it was frequently seen stationery with steam coming out, Renault further developed this technology and won their first F1 race with it. The 15 design is inspired by Alain Prost's Renault RE40, the last year he drove for Renault where he finished second in the world championship.
