Allan Moffat won the 1977 Bathurst race in dramatic fashion, with Colin Bond finishing second in the #2 car, they staged a close 1,2 formation to finish the race in a similar way to Ford's victory at Le Mans in 1966.
Moffat's Falcon had worn through the brakes, caused by an earlier part of the race when Ickx was driving. Colin Bond could easily have passed and won the race, however he followed team orders to make this dramtic finish to the ire of Holden fans.
Holden got their revenge with Peter Brock leading a 1,2 finish in the 1984 race dubbed the 'last of the big bangers'.
